Mocha Macaroons

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • 2 cups flaked coconut

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 300 degrees. lightly grease cookie sheets.
  • 2 beat egg whites, coffee, cream of tartar, and salt in medium bowl on low speed until foamy.
  • 3 beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time on high speed until stiff. do not underbeat.
  • 4 stir in cocoa until smooth.
  • 5 fold in coconut.
  • 6 drop mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. bake 20 to 25 minutes or until set. cool 10 minutes, then remove from cookie sheet.
  • 7 sprinkle with cocoa or drizzle with melted chocolate.
