Merks Coffee Cake

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1/2 cup butter flavor shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons fleischmann margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup walnut pieces
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • water

Recipe

  • 1 instructions: make crumbs first.
  • 2 then, make the batter.
  • 3 add ingredients in order listed.
  • 4 cream shortening, sugar, and eggs.
  • 5 add the rest of the wet ingredients, and then slowly add the dry ingredients.
  • 6 mix to combine, do not over mix.
  • 7 put 12 the batter in a greased 10 inch bundt pan.
  • 8 add 12 crumbs and then add the rest of batter, and top with rest of crumbs bake 350°f for 50 minutes until top is browned, and a fork comes out clean.
  • 9 cool slightly and remove from pan to a cooling rack.
  • 10 cool completely & then drizzle on icing.
  • 11 serve with margarine or butter.
