Grandma's Buttermilk Pancakes

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3 1/3 cups buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (or any other flavouring)
  • 6 egg whites

Recipe

  • 1 stir first 5 ingredients together.
  • 2 beat egg yolks, buttermilk,butter and vanilla together.
  • 3 add to the dry ingredients.
  • 4 fold egg whites in separate bowl until stiff but not dry.
  • 5 fold into batter.
  • 6 heat greased frying pan or griddle on medium-high until drops of water dance around on the surface.
  • 7 spoon 1/4 cup pancakes on griddle.
  • 8 cook until bubbles appear on surface and edges are slightly brown.
  • 9 flip over, and cook until lightly browned.
  • 10 enjoy, most wonderful on late sunday mornings over lots of laughter and hot coffee.
