Granny Smith Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 16
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 medium granny smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350. butter a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, set aside.
  • 2 in a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
  • 3 add the apples, butter, applesauce, and eggs; stir just till combined. batter will be very chunky, mostly apples.
  • 4 spoon batter into pan, smooth with a spatula. bake 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. cool in pan.
