Grandma's Crumb Cake

Ingredients

- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons shortening
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- butter
Recipe
- 1 combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and baking powder.
- 2 cut in shortening, reserve 1/2 cup; set aside.
- 3 place beaten egg in a measuring cup and add enough milk to equal one cup.
- 4 add vanilla and combine with flour mixture, mix well.
- 5 pour into a greased 8 x 8 pan.
- 6 sprinkle with reserved dry mixture.
- 7 dot with butter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- 8 bake 25 minutes at 375°.
